Prince’s Trust

St Augustine’s is pleased to be able to offer our students the opportunity of working towards the Prince’s Trust Qualification Titles:

Award in Personal Development and Teamwork
or
Certificate in Personal Development and Teamwork

The qualification is awarded by the Prince’s Trust, a recognised awarding organisation by Ofqual (the examination regulator).

This is a 2-year course (Year 10 and 11), time-tabled for 3 sessions a week (a double lesson and a single).

How to achieve The Prince’s Trust Qualification:

Year 11 Students will need to complete their portfolio of work which is linked to the assessments of the units studied.

Some of the units we are covering this academic year are:

  • Demonstrating Speaking and Listening Skills
  • Undertaking an Enterprise Project
  • Managing money
  • Preparing for the world of work

Qualification Levels:

The qualifications are available at Award and Certificate size and at Entry 3, Level 1 and Level 2.  They therefore meet a variety of individual learning needs.

Assessment:

There are no exams for qualifications.  Assessment is by means of a Portfolio which is internally and externally verified.  All learning outcomes need to be successfully covered to pass a unit.

The Portfolio:

The portfolio is the term given to the collection of evidence by students which meets the requirement of the assessment criteria.

We believe that the skills gained through the Prince’s Trust activities are likely to help students improve in their other GCSE subjects.
